HOOPS FOR HOPE
Picture

Hoops for Hope was founded by Dancer, Musician, and Educator River Christie-White, as a platform to advocate on behalf of indigenous people with disabilities and shed light on issues of diversity and inclusion vs acceptance.

Through Hoops for Hope River presents at Pow Wows, schools, professional conferences, and other events. River performs traditional hoop dance and offers activities that explore Indigenous culture and anti-bullying. River was diagnosed as being on the Autism Spectrum, and is using his talents of the traditional art of Hoop Dancing to spread awareness about Autism and the lack of support for Indigenous children and families with special needs.
Hoops for Hope is an organization that engages the traditional teachings of the hoop dance from the Hopi nation in Southern Arizona and how it relates to Modern issues. River was taught as a young child by his grandfather how to hoop dance and has brought the practice into the 21st century performing with modern music and adding LEDs to his hoops.
